Atlanta, GA — One man is behind bars tonight after an attempted robbery at an Atlanta area Chick-fil-A and according to police, his capture is thanks to at least one armed observer. According to police , the Chick-fil-A on Peachtree Street was targeted by a man with a gun around 3:00 pm.
According to The Epoch Times, police reported:
“Upon arrival, officers spoke with witnesses who stated a black male walked inside, produced a firearm and demanded money from several employees. The employees fled and the suspect exited the business a short time later. Several nearby citizens confronted the suspect as he was leaving. One of the citizens was armed and at some point, during the confrontation, the citizen fired several shots. The suspect ran on foot and was apprehended nearby, by the citizens and held until police arrived.”
The police report continued:
“The suspect’s weapon was recovered. No one was struck by the gunfire and charges are pending against the robbery suspect. No charges have been filed against the citizen and the investigation continues.”
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported their version of the story:
According to Atlanta police, multiple people who witnessed a robbery in progress at the Colony Square restaurant did just that, stepping in to confront and subdue the armed suspect.
One of those people was armed, and at some point during the confrontation, he fired several shots, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer C.J. Johnson said. He and several other Colony Square visitors were able to disarm the suspect, 23-year-old Willie Gloston IV, and hold him until police arrived, Johnson said.
Officers were sent to the Midtown restaurant about 3 p.m., according to Johnson. Witnesses told investigators that a man walked into the store and demanded money from a cashier. The man was later identified as Gloston. It’s not clear if they gave the man any money, but the cashier fled to the back of the store and the suspect left.
Meanwhile, investigators have charged the alleged robber with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
He is being held in the Fulton County jail. No charges have been filed against the armed citizen involved in the incident. Police said there were no injuries during the crime.
You Attack Jesus’s Chicken, You Get What You Deserve
All kidding aside, a criminal would have to try hard to find a restaurant more likely to have armed Americans willing to defend themselves than Chick-fil-A. It’s a darn good thing these brave Americans were not only in the right place at the right time, but were willing to get involved when a violent criminal with a gun threatened innocent people!
Hopefully when the cops thanked the Good Samaritan, he had the wherewithal to say, “My pleasure!”
