The year 2020 had been a dream come true for gun store owners. Starting with Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s tin pot dictator efforts in January and continuing up to the present with riots in Portland and ongoing efforts to defund the police, it’s been a wild ride.
According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, America is in new territory on gun sales. According to the NSSF, “The bottom line is that there has never been a sustained surge in firearm sales quite like what we are in the midst of.”
The latest data from the FBI, who tracks the NICS background checks necessary to purchase a gun, get a security clearance or a concealed carry permit, backs up the claim that this is uncharted territory.
Gun sales are up almost double over last year, at a 95% increase. Ammunition sales are even higher, with the latest data saying that ammo sales are up 139%.
For gun stores, 87% said their sales outpaced last year. That’s nearly 90% of gun store owners!
This translates to a staggering 10.3 million firearm transactions that have been processed nationwide in the first half of 2020.
Demographics
Another thing that is worth pointing out from the new data is WHO is buying guns. Gun sales to black Americans are up 58% over this time last year. In fact, that demographic saw more growth than any other!
This puts to bed the left’s often-repeated idea that only racist white men own guns. The crowd of gun owners is growing in every direction, including record-high numbers of women, Hispanics, Asians and black Americans.
A New Generation To Fight For Gun Rights?
Will all of these new gun owners translate into more victories for the Second Amendment at election time?
We hope that somebody who was worried enough by current events to purchase a gun to defend themselves and their family would realize that the government shouldn’t be able to take it away again.
