Ohio — It appears Beto O’Rourke is trying to sink his campaign on the issue of gun control.
Last night’s Democratic debate was yet another glaring example of him threatening law-abiding gun owners with gun confiscation if they didn’t go along with his plan to disarm them.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked Beta how he planned to address the issue of AR-15’s in the general population since the government doesn’t even know who has them and Beto has said that he didn’t want to go door-to-door to get them.
Beto answered that he would have a government-mandated buyback for all privately held AR-15s and AK-47s.
He said that AR-15’s and AK-47 are “too dangerous to own and every single one of them is a potential instrument of terror.”
Nothing was said about hammers, shoes, or other “potential instruments of terror” that killed more people than rifles, including AR-15’s, last year.
Cooper didn’t drop the question, though, and reiterated: How will you get people to hand over weapons they don’t want to give you?
Beto replied that he expected American’s to follow the law.
“The same way that we enforce any provision, any law that we have right now. We don’t go door to door to do anything in this country to enforce the law…I expect my fellow Americans to follow the law. The same way we enforce any provision, any law that we have right now, we don’t go door to door to do anything to enforce the law. I expect Republicans, Democrats, gun owners, non-gun owners alike, to follow the law.”
The Truth Comes Out
Anderson Cooper wanted more of an answer and asked what Beto would do if American gun owners didn’t comply.
Then Beto laid his cards on table: “If someone does not turn an AR-15 or an AK-47, one of these weapons of war, or brings it out in public and brandishes it, in an attempt to intimidate…then that weapon will be taken from them. If they persist, there will be other consequences from law enforcement.”
That pretty much says it all, folks.
Nobody booed at him, there were no catcalls from the crowd.
The Democrats all think this way, and only Beto is brave enough to say it.
