Warsaw, IN — A Warsaw, Indiana man is charged with sexual battery after an incident in June when he allegedly broke into a woman’s home and tried to rape her.
The woman woke up in bed to find the man on top of her, trying to have sex with her.
The incident happened on June 2nd when the unnamed woman attended a cookout with friends.
At the cookout was a Robert P. Snell, 44, of 920 Anchorage Road, Lot 93.
The two had never dated and were nothing more than friends.
The woman stated to police that Snell had been drinking heavily at the cookout but had eventually left on foot by himself.
The woman went home on her own around 11:00 pm. But just after 2:00 in the morning, she woke up to find a strange man on top of her having sex with her.
The yelled at the man and reached for the rifle she kept in the headboard of her bed. She shoved it into the man’s chest and told him to get off her.
The man took her threat seriously, and picked up his pants and carried them as she marched him down the hallway with the rifle in his back.
Once they got into some light, the woman realized that the stranger was Snell. She called the police, and told them what had happened. She said that she had certainly not invited the man home with her.
Too Little, Too Late
Snell admitted that was true, and has since written a letter apologizing and saying that he was “disgusted” with himself for his actions.
He was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Tuesday, September 3rd. He is charged with sexual battery, a Level 6 felony. His bond is at $5,250. He’s expected in court on Sept. 30.
Good for this little lady. She kept her sense and was prepared for the unthinkable. Having a gun close at hand saved her from a far worse outcome!
