HIGH POINT, N.C. – Police in High Point have reported that a local woman shot and killed a man who had repeatedly assaulted her previously and who later came back and charged at her with an ax.
Police received a call around 4:10 am on Saturday, July 27th and were dispatched to 400 Hickory Lane with reports of a shooting.
The call came from the woman, who reported that she had shot a man who had charged at her with an ax in her own home.
The same unidentified woman had called police less than 8 hours earlier after the deceased man had allegedly grabbed her, choked her and shoved her around. She suspected he was intoxicated.
After her Friday night call around 10:00 pm, the police were going to enter the home and detain the man but reports that he had access to a firearm in the house forced them find a new course of action.
They set up a perimeter and called for the tactical team. They attempted to make contact with the man but were unsuccessful.
They applied for and were granted a search warrant, but upon entering the house at 2:30 in the morning, found that the man had slipped away from them and wasn’t in the home anymore.
When the call came from the woman at 4:10, officers arrived back at the scene to find the woman and her daughter standing in the front yard with the gun on the ground.
The man was found in the back of the house, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
The deceased man has not yet been identified, and more information will be released.
This woman called the cops, and they were there in time . . . but even they weren’t able to be there to protect her when the angry, drunken man returned to finish the job.
Thank goodness she had access to a gun and was able to use it in time to stop the lunatic who tried to kill her!
