Birmingham, Alabama — If you think you’ve had a bad day at work, the clerks at this Family Dollar in Birmingham,, Alabama might have you beat!
On Wednesday, March 20, the Family Dollar clerks were stunned when two masked men wielding swords burst in the door and demanded money!

Precious Spencer, a clerk with the store, told reporters that it was only her second day on the job, so she initially didn’t understand what was going on.
But then she saw her shift manager running towards the front of the store and she recounts, “he got to the end of the aisle and said, ‘they’re robbing us, they’re robbing us’… they came here with swords and that kind of threw us for a loop because no one really got robbed with swords before.
What were they going to do, chop our heads off and get the stuff?”
While the store doesn’t allow staff to carry firearms, the manager had been given permission to carry concealed after the store had 13 attempted robberies in the last 5 months!

The shift manager had his concealed weapon that day, so when the two men began threatening him and Spencer with their medieval weapons, the shift manager pulled his handgun.
Realizing they had essentially brought knives to a gun-fight, the cowardly would-be robbers took off running.
After the fact, Spencer said that she understood that her manager carried a gun to prevent anyone from getting hurt.
“He said, ‘they rob us too much and that’s why I have my gun,’ and I understand why he feels the way he feels. He’s trying to secure himself and protect the people that are in here,” she added.
Dumb criminals never learn: never take a knife — or a sword — to a gunfight!
