Morgantown, MS — How many of us can honestly say we’ve killed two deer with one shot?
Not many, right?
That’s exactly what life long hunter, 101-year-old Bertha Vickers did recently on a recent hunt in Morgantown, Mississippi.
While Ms. Vickers wasn’t aiming for two kills in one shot, according to the Clarion Ledger, she said “It shot plum through both of them.”
The story goes on to say Ms. Vickers hadn’t been happy with the .243 rifle she had been using throughout the season, so she changed up the rifle she used in her deer blind.
“It’s a real good place to sit, but after I had bad luck, one of the boys brought me another gun, it’s a 7mm-08.
I’d seen the gun shoot and knew it would hit.”
Ms. Vickers didn’t keep all that deer meat for herself though, saying going on to say she “made steaks, but I gave most of it to my grandchildren.”
After turning 101 on January 9, it doesn’t appear Ms. Vickers will hang up the rifle any time soon.
“When you’re as old as I am, you naturally think each one could be your last one, but I’m going to go as long as I can.”
