Brookhaven, MS — Two police officers — 35 year old James White and 31 year old Zack Moak — were killed during an early morning (5 AM) call to a residence in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
Reports are that the suspect, 25-year-old , was also wounded in the shootout, and is currently in the hospital.
Both of the officers were called out to the residence in response to gunfire.

When they arrived, shot were exchanged with the thug, Marquis Flowers, with both officers ending up fatally wounded, despite the fact that both were wearing bullet proof vests.

“These are two awesome people that lost their lives in the line of duty and they’re both heroes,” Police Chief Kenneth Collins told a news conference. “They did their job.”
He added: “Men and women of law enforcement, we are not going to give up. This is what we do. They did their jobs and I am proud of both of them. I want the families to know that two heroes lost their lives, and they are in the presence of Jesus right now.”
