(San Benito, Texas) – A Texas Man is behind bars tonight in Cameron County after police say he attempted to force entry into a residence on the edge of town.
Police first responded to the scene after receiving reports of shots being fired in the area. Those shots, according to the Sheriff’s office, were fired from the homeowners in self-defense as they attempted to stave off the home invasion.
Neighbors saw the suspect running away in fear, being pursued by the homeowner, before the authorities arrived.
The suspect has been arrested and is facing multiple charges, while the homeowners are expected to face no charges, as Texas is a Stand-Your-Ground law state.
