(Jacksonville) – The suspect in a “push-in” home invasion was shot by his would-be victim in the 1600 block of N. Myrtle St. Wednesday morning.
Police said that the victim observed a man following her home and forced his way inside just after she walked in her front door. The woman was able to grab her firearm and shoot the suspect in fear for her life.
The suspect was hit and fled the scene, called 911, and was taken to the hospital, where authorities responded and took the man into custody.
Investigators believe that the suspect was involved in a second home invasion attempt shortly before the attack on Myrtle Street.
Florida is both a “Castle Doctrine” as well as a “Stand–Your-Ground” state.
