(Dallas) – Authorities are reporting that a Domino’s Pizza driver was attacked in the 1400 block of Springwood Drive late Saturday night while attempting to deliver a pizza.
The driver told investigators that he was confronted by multiple suspects, one of whom displayed a handgun during the armed robbery attempt, prompting him to fire his own weapon in self-defense.
According to Lieut. Brian Parrish, the suspects were two 16-year-olds, one of whom died as a result of his injuries. The other suspect has been arrested and charged with felony robbery.
Texas, which is not a Constitutional Carry state, still requires law-abiding citizens to obtain a permit to carry for self-defense. Police state that the delivery driver does not have a permit and may be facing charges as a result of the shooting.
Domino’s Pizza reports that they have suspended the driver pending this investigation.
