(Lawton, OK) – Police are reporting a shooting that took place at a home near the intersection of Southwest 5th and I Ave. just after 8:30am.
That’s where authorities say a woman shot a man later identified as 37-yr-old Rocky Stamper, as she woke up to find him standing over her in her bed during a brazen daylight attack.
Officials said that Stamper and the woman had recently ended a relationship and that Stamper pointed the gun at the woman during the assault.
Stamper died on the scene and no one in the home was injured in the attempted home invasion.
Authorities say the woman was transported to the police station for an interview but was later released.
No charges are expected.
