Pittsburgh, PA — Stung by the gun owner boycott ongoing for months now, news out of Dick’s Sporting Goods headquarters is that they may shutter as many as 35 stores across 18 states.
in the wake of a number of high profile shootings in the U.S., Dick’s caved to the gun-grabbers, pulling hundreds of thousands of firearms off their shelves, in addition to what they refer to as “high capacity magazines”.

Swaths of gun owners and Second Amendment supporters across the country responded to these anti-gun actions by refusing to spend money at Dick’s, hurting their bottom line.
Now the word from Dick’s CEO Edward Stack is that they may have to shut down 35 “Field & Stream” stores.
My sense is that we can either take a look at closing that store, that concept or re-conceptualizing it into a more of an outdoor type concept and we’re taking a look at all of these things and by the end of – the peak of the hunting season is coming up in – and basically, the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth quarter and as we move into the end of the fourth quarter, we’ll make a decision as to what we’re going to do.
While Dick’s remains a monster company in their category, they’ve been hurt severely by the boycott, as evidenced in numerous reports in the last year.
